dc.description.abstract The study was meant to seek out challenges of Introducing Information and Communication technology Education in rural Primary School in Limulunga district of Western Province in Zambia. The study used a qualitative approach with a detailed description of data as it came out from the situation on the ground. The study population was 389 teachers from the 36 primary schools in Limulunga district. The 20 schools were sampled using simple random while the 20 ICT teachers were purposively selected. The observation instrument and interviews guide were used in data collection. The validation of the instrument was determined by the experts from Solusi University who checked on face and content validity. The data analysis was done using thematic analysis which was done using the research questions. The study findings revealed that most primary schools lack qualified teachers hence they are using unqualified ICT specialist. They mostly use teachers of mathematics and science. The school has inadequate computers to enable them to engage learners into hands-on –activities and at the same time, the rural primary schools lack computer laboratories, furniture and in most cases the schools are not connected to the stable power grid making it very difficult for teachers to teach ICT. Basing on the findings, there is need for schools to intensify school-based professional development for ICT teachers, improve on community partnership so that they lobby for more computers and construction of computer laboratories. en_US
